Youth Parliament

Last week, Layla, Brianna and Tia had the privilege of participating in Toowoomba’s Youth Parliament, alongside 90 other Year 6 students from the Toowoomba region.  The
Youth Parliament was hosted by the Queensland Parliament and was chaired by the Speaker, the Honourable Curtis Pitt MP, along with local Members of Parliament.   Our Wyreema students represented the Government. Layla and Tia delivered a one-minute speech opposing the Opposition’s motion that Queensland schools should be open from 9am to 1pm, Monday
to Friday.  Their convincing speeches earned many a “Hear, hear!” from the other Members of Parliament.
