Grade 2/3 Science
In Science, we have been learning about two of Earth's resources; soil and water. We have investigated ways in which we use soil and water and ways we can conserve them. One of the students' favourite experiments was leaving a tap to drip for the duration of our Science lesson to see how much water would be wasted. They were so excited to see the amount of water collected and decided we should reuse this water on the plants in the garden. We have also spent the last five weeks growing plants. We used three different types of soil; sand, clay and loam and made predictions about which soil type we thought would be best for growing plants. The students have each had a day where they were responsible for watering and placing the plants in the sun. We found out that loam was the best soil type for growing our plants and this plant grew to 39cm.
