Child Convict Stories
Students in Year 4/5 have been especially busy this past week finishing our convict historical recounts in readiness for our presentations. We have all taken the role of a child convict of the First Fleet and have had to tell 'our story' as to how we came to be on the streets on England, being thrown in the crowded jails and then herded onto the 11 ships bound for Botany Bay. It wasn't the most enjoyable trip, so we discovered. It has been great having the opportunity to tell our experience as though it was 'us' sitting below those cramped decks with little food or water, just to learn we would be on the ship for near on a year. Wow, what a tale we have to tell! So much work and imagination has gone into our costumes!
